Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that he thought that Hugo Lloris was magnificent for Tottenham Hotspur in their defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday.
Spurs were dealt a big blow on a night in which they could have moved to within one point of the Premier League summit.

They went into the break level. And Harry Kane had a late opportunity to score just before half-time. However, the busiest Spurs player up until that point was Lloris.
Hugo Lloris was magnificent
The Frenchman made a string of superb saves to try and keep United at bay.

Lloris could do nothing about either goal he conceded. The first took a big deflection, while the second was brilliantly taken by Bruno Fernandes.
But there is absolutely no question that Lloris kept the score down. The 35-year-old made eight saves during the game, according to Whoscored. And several of those stops were not easy. Certainly, the home side will be baffled that they did not score more.
And when assessing United’s performance, Ferdinand made a point to praise what he saw from Lloris.
“I think you see a difference when Eriksen’s been playing. And I think when he doesn’t play, that bit of control, that guile, we miss when he doesn’t play. But Bruno today got that one opportunity to curl it in past Lloris, who I thought was magnificent today,” he told his YouTube channel.
Lloris will not have been happy that he was called into action so often on Wednesday. But the truth is that no Tottenham outfield player managed to produce a particularly good display.
They were outplayed all over the park. And that will be a concern for Antonio Conte given that Spurs have struggled to find their best form so far this season.
They have now failed to win a few of their biggest games. And they were second best against Chelsea, Arsenal, and now Manchester United.
Lloris did all he could to keep Tottenham in the game on Wednesday. But ultimately, he could only do so much.
