'By the way': Rio Ferdinand makes honest Leeds United admission, says £11m man needs respecting

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he never saw Leeds staying up this season and has singled out Jack Harrison for praise following their win at Brentford.

Leeds turned up big style against Brentford as they won 2-1 to seal their Premier League place for yet another season in the top flight. Goals from Raphinha and then a late winner from the aforementioned Harrison proved enough to send the Leeds end into raptures on Saturday afternoon.

And according to Rio Ferdinand, who was speaking this evening on his podcast, Leeds didn’t look like staying up.

Your Club's SURPRISE Star This Season

“This is what makes the Premier League the best league in the world. In terms of entertainment, the Premier League is unrivalled. There’s people fighting all across the league,” Ferdinand said on his Five YouTube channel.

“I thought Leeds, because of their form, I didn’t see them beating Brentford away. I thought they were going down. But they’ve done remarkably well to come out of that. And Harrison by the way, who’s been a good player in the last two years, he comes up with the goods with the late goal.”

Harrison has been a revelation for Leeds ever since joining on loan and then completing an £11m deal to move to Elland Road permanently last summer.

TBR’s View: Harrison’s Quality Is Crucial To Leeds United Going Forward

Harrison has been one of the best players for Leeds all season. In a campaign full of injuries for the Leeds squad, Harrison has managed to stay fit and contribute all season.

The winger ended up with ten goals this season. For a wide player, that’s a good contribution and with Raphinha potentially leaving, Harrison will be even more important next term.

Leeds need more of this from Harrison and others next season. Big moments win games, and Jesse Marsch will hope for more next term.
