Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal will 'jump up the league' if one player keeps impressing

Arsenal turned a corner last Saturday as they picked up their first Premier league win of the season.

The Gunners battled to a 1-0 win over Norwich at the Emirates Stadium, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting the winner.

On 66 minutes, Tim Krul kept out Nicolas Pepe’s effort and the follow-up was blocked.

However, Aubameyang was on hand to slot home from point-blank range.

Admittedly, the Arsenal captain could’ve had more goals on another day.

Nonetheless, following a slow start to the season – and an average campaign by his standards last year – it’s good to see him off the mark.

And Rio Ferdinand, speaking on the latest episode of Vibe With FIVE on YouTube, hopes for more of the same from Aubameyang and Arsenal.

“The biggest thing for you guys is that Aubameyang scored, your talisman,” said the Manchester United and England icon.

“If he plays well and scores goals, Arsenal will jump up the league.

“Since he signed his new deal he’s struggled for form, he’s struggled for goals.

“He’s got that goal now, so let’s see you boys start motoring.

“Because as much as we take the mick out of you, I do like to see Arsenal do well, I’ve got to be honest.”

Up next for the Gunners is Saturday’s trip to Burnley, 3pm BST kickoff.
