Rio Ferdinand was amongst those to reply to Michael Keane on Instagram after the defender suggested that Everton deserved more from their draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
The Toffees had to settle for a point after a dramatic conclusion to the weekend’s clash.

Jordan Pickford produced an incredible stop to deny Odion Ighalo, before the home side found themselves with a superb chance.
Gylfi Sigurdsson had an effort saved brilliantly by David de Gea. The ball was in the back of the net shortly after however, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shot was deflected by Harry Maguire.

It initially appeared that the goal would stand. However, the VAR ruled it out due to Sigurdsson being in front of de Gea in an offside position when the ball went past.
Everton understandably felt aggrieved by the decision. Although it may be the correct call, Sigurdsson was not blocking de Gea’s view. And the Spaniard was moving in the opposite direction so would have needed to produce something miraculous to make the save.
Carlo Ancelotti was sent off after the final whistle following a confrontation with the officials.
So you could certainly understand why Keane felt disappointed that Everton had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The former United defender took to Instagram to suggest that the Toffees were worthy of all three points…
And in response, his old teammate Ferdinand lauded the centre-back’s display in the game…
