Ruben Amorim is facing pressure at Manchester United only two matches into the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Red Devils surrendered a one-goal lead at Craven Cottage to draw 1-1 with Fulham on Sunday, following a 1-0 loss against Arsenal in the league opener.
Manchester United were fortunate to walk away from West London with a point after Mark Clattenburg admitted United’s goal shouldn’t have stood due to a missed foul on Calvin Bassey in the build-up.
Amorim responded to his long-term future heading into the new campaign, and there was plenty of optimism around Old Trafford with big-money arrivals bolstering the squad.

However, supporters are already beginning to doubt Amorim’s ability to lead the side for the foreseeable future, and now United legend Rio Ferdinand has responded to those who want to see the manager leave the club after two games.
Rio Ferdinand urges the fans to give Ruben Amorim time
When speaking on his Rio Reacts YouTube channel, Ferdinand directly addressed the claims that Amorim should be sacked at Man United and urged the fans to have patience with the manager.
“We’ve had two games by the way, the first game we lost the game to Arsenal. But a positive reaction from the fanbase. Go to Fulham, it felt a little bit like last season, had a good spell in the game, and then it fizzled out, and we kind of looked like we ran out of ideas and let the other team back in it. Dropped points.
“The criticism then, I’ve seen so many fans saying ‘Amorim out’ and ‘he’s not the guy’. When two games before, they were saying, ‘you know what we’re going to give him time, we’re gonna have a little bit of… see how we get through, give him time to build his team and to work things out.’
“You can’t just change like the weather like that, man. People are changing their opinions like they’re changing their boxer shorts. It’s too quick. I’m seeing after two games now, Bruno’s missed a penalty, people are saying ‘Bruno get rid’. You can’t change that quick. Give time for the team to breathe and grow into it this season.
“Now listen, if we’re talking ten games in or we’re talking around Christmas, you can start having your opinions like that, but right now. You got to take a little, go, you know what, two games in, let’s just… we’re not happy, let’s breathe.
“But it’s difficult, I know. The passion sets in, the fans want more, the fans want to be positive, I know that, and it’s hard when your team is not winning.”
Amorim now has fewer points than matches won as United boss following the Fulham draw, and although the team has only played two matches in the Premier League this season, concerns are beginning to creep in.
A lot of first-team starters left a lot to be desired at Craven Cottage, despite the visitors dominating the contest in the early stages – Patrick Dorgu was underwhelming at left-back and captain Bruno Fernandes, of course, missed a penalty that would have won United the game.
Furthermore, Benjamin Sesko’s cameo raised concerns – the Slovenian forward replaced Casemiro in the 53rd minute and failed to make a recognisable impact for his side.
Ruben Amorim is running out of time at Manchester United
Although Amorim has spent approximately £194 million this summer revamping his front line at Old Trafford, the same old problems are rearing it’s ugly head.
The Red Devils recorded their worst league finish in the club’s history last season, and to make matters worse, lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.
Amorim does not have the luxury afforded to other managers in England, and many questioned the decision to stick with the boss after last season’s exploits. And he needs to repay the faith Sir Jim Ratcliffe placed in him.
Man United will travel to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening and are expected to return to winning ways before hosting Burnley in the league on Saturday. Otherwise, the United board will be forced into a difficult conversation regarding Amorim’s future.
