Rio Ferdinand questions whether Harry Kane will be satisfied at Tottenham

Rio Ferdinand has questioned whether or not Tottenham star Harry Kane will be satisfied with his career if he fails to win trophies.

Aged 27, Kane looks like he’s reaching his prime. The England captain has taken his game to another level this season by adding an extra creative spark to his game, as well as continuing to be a goal machine.

He’s scored 17 goals and set up 14 assists so far this campaign in 24 games across all competitions.

But the world-class centre-forward has failed to win a single piece of silverware in his career so far, albeit he will be hoping to fire his team to a Carabao Cup final when they face Brentford on Tuesday night in the semi-finals of the domestic competition.

Ferdinand has explained his “fear” for the Spurs talisman regarding a lack of trophies to show for his quality.

“My fear for Harry Kane is if he does all this, and he wins, and he breaks records for Spurs scoring goals, but doesn’t get his hands on big trophies, will he be content?” Ferdinand said.

“Will he be satisfied? Will he sit there in his armchair afterwards and say ‘I’ve had a great career and loved every minute’? Not everyone can win, I understand that, but when you’re playing at the level he’s playing at the moment, surely he’s got to be winning.”

TBR’s View:

Since breaking into the Spurs first-team, Kane has been extremely loyal to the club that helped develop him at academy level.

He’s already a Spurs icon for what he’s achieved at the club, scoring 205 goals in 311 appearances to date.

It’s a fair assessment that a player of the striker’s abilities deserves to be lifting the big trophies, but it would surely take an astronomical fee for Spurs to sell him, and on top of that, he hasn’t given any indication he would like to leave.
