Arsenal have been searching to sign a new striker for a long time now, and a number of different options have been linked.
Arsenal have been linked with almost every striker in Europe over the past 12 months.
However, perhaps the player who has most strongly been linked with a move to The Emirates is Ivan Toney.
Toney has been named as an Arsenal target for a long time now, but, in recent times, it’s been reported that Arsenal have decided against signing Toney.
Speaking on social media, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing the idea of Toney moving to Manchester United this summer, and he says that he doesn’t want the England international at Old Trafford.
Interestingly, Ferdinand also noted that he’s been baffled by what’s happened with Toney, stating that it’s strange how nobody seems to be in for Toney this summer.
Rio Ferdinand baffled by Ivan Toney situation
Ferdinand shared his verdict on Toney’s situation.
“Personally I wouldn’t go for someone like Ivan Toney. I think the age, that profile is wrong for the club,” Ferdinand said.
“I just don’t see it as a fit. I found it a bit strange. He was someone everyone was talking about could go to Arsenal or could go to Chelsea for £100, £80m or whatever, but all of a sudden there are no bidders. I’m mystified as to why that is, for Man United I just don’t see it as a fit.”

Ivan Toney still has time to make a move
Toney hasn’t had any suitors so far this summer, but there’s still a bit of time for the striker to make his move.
Toney is said to be valued at £60m, and while that is a lot of money, as teams begin to panic, Toney could come onto the radar.
Arsenal and Chelsea both still need a striker, while there’s also a case to make that Manchester United could still do with another centre-forward.
Don’t be surprised if Toney still ends up getting a move this summer.
