Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that he worries for Eric Dier, suggesting that he is not sure that the Spurs star is playing well enough to make the England squad this summer.
Dier looks to be one of the players with a question mark hanging over him heading into Euro 2020.

Like many of his Tottenham teammates, the 27-year-old has struggled for consistency this term.
And he came in for a lot of criticism at the weekend as Spurs were beaten 3-1 at Leeds. In fact, questions could be asked of him for all three of the home side’s goals at Elland Road.

He let a cross run past him for the opener, and lost Patrick Bamford around the six-yard box for the second. And his miserable afternoon was compounded when he played Raphinha onside for Rodrigo’s goal.
And Ferdinand suggested that his form will be a major cause for concern for Gareth Southgate ahead of this summer.
“Eric Dier, I worry for him,” he told his YouTube channel. “Does he get in the England squad now based on some of the things that I’ve seen recently?
“He’s struggling for confidence and form. I think it makes it difficult. You need players going into that tournament with confidence.”
TBR View: Dier not the only centre-back struggling
What may work in Dier’s favour is that there are a few centre-backs struggling right now. Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady have not been at their best lately.
Dier – who earns around £72,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – is also a player who can play in a couple of positions. That is admittedly, less important with managers able to name 26 players in their squads.
And it does now seem imperative that Dier bounces back in the final games of the campaign if he hopes to book his ticket this summer.
