Rio Ferdinand has told BT Sport that he believes Manchester City sensation Phil Foden is the best young player in the world at the moment on form, after the England international sparkled during Tuesday’s semi-final against PSG.
With City boasting a 2-1 away win from the first leg, they were tasked with avoiding defeat at The Etihad on Tuesday to progress at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s side. PSG dominated possession, but City were the better side.
Riyad Mahrez nicked the headlines as he scored two close-range goals to down Pochettino’s PSG 2-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate – the second being assisted by Foden. Pep Guardiola has finally guided City into the final.
Ferdinand claimed after the match that despite the recent form of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe among others, he believes that on current form – Foden is the best young player in the world on form, following his assist.
