Rio Ferdinand has lavished praise on Tanguy Ndombele, after the Frenchman produced another fine display at the weekend.
Against Manchester City, the 23-year-old was again picked to start for Spurs by Jose Mourinho who is clearly happy with his progression this season.
It was his sixth in a row, and although he didn’t complete 90 minutes yet in any of them, the ex-Lyon star has caught the eye every time.
Against City, Spurs didn’t have too much of the ball, but Ndombele showed some lovely neat touches when he got it.
He produced the decisive pass for Heung-min Son’s goal after making space for himself in the midfield.
His performance has led to praise from Ferdinand, who said on his FIVE YouTube channel: “Special mention for Ndombele. This kid, I saw him play for Lyon against City the year before last – he was magnificent in midfield.
“What I love about him is he can turn defence into attack very quickly, he’s physically very strong, his feet, great movement, can shift the play on and attack the space, and that opens the game up for the attacking players.
“Some of the passes to his teammates as well have been fantastic. He’s someone who’s going to have a great future.”
TBR’s View – Ndombele finally proving his worth
Ndombele is finally showing why Spurs paid what they paid in the summer of 2019.
The Frenchman is absolutely brilliant to watch at times, and hopefully he’ll soon start completing 90 minutes more often.
To have someone who can break the lines is vital, and Nbombele, whether thats via an intricate dribble or killer pass, is the master at it.
