Rio Ferdinand lauds Liverpool star Diogo Jota as ‘phenomenal signing’

The ex-England defender has been raving about Jota for his recent performances.

Rio Ferdinand has waxed lyrical about Liverpool star Diogo Jota during the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Present FIVE.

The summer signing scored his eighth goal since checking in from Wolves during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City.

Liverpool moved level on points with Tottenham at the summit of the Premier League at the weekend and Jota is on fire.

His goal-haul has come from just 12 appearances and the club looks to have struck gold with yet another transfer deal.

Jota signed a long-term deal with Liverpool worth £90,000-a-week and he already looks like a real steal.

Ferdinand was certainly impressed with his showing on Sunday and raved about him recently.

He told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “The recruitment at Liverpool which they have done to get him has been justified.

“Not many people were sitting there going, ‘Jota, let’s get Jota’. He has come in and he is saying to Klopp, ‘You better start me. You can’t afford to drop me. I am scoring goals week in, week out’. That’s what you want at a top club.

“He has been nothing short of a phenomenal signing.”

The former Wolves man has been nothing short of a stunning signing by the Premier League champions.

Jota scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, with just seven of those coming during Wolves’ league campaign.

It takes a certain type of player to force his way into Klopp’s team, with hard-work and commitment mandatory requirements at the club.

The man with eight caps for his country has the potential to improve and once again it looks like Michael Edwards has struck gold.

Jota can play in a number of positions and on current form he could lead Liverpool to yet more glory this season.
