Rio Ferdinand has admitted he is in awe of Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard for the performances he is producing right now in north London.
Odegaard has been in exceptional form for the Gunners. He was among the goals and assists once again against Brighton and showed his class yet again.
Of course, Odegaard is Arsenal’s captain after Mikel Arteta made the bold call to hand him the armband. And speaking on his FIVE podcast on YouTube, Ferdinand admitted he’s been stunned by how good Odegaard has been.
“Odegaard needs special mention. This guy. I said when he got given the armband it will one of two ways. Either it will weight too heavy on his shoulders or he’ll run with it. And he is running with it. This guy is playing like Mozart at the minute,” Ferdinand said.

“He’s rolling the ball through people’s legs. He looks like a reincarnation of Ozil at his best. I’ve been looking at him thinking wow this kid. You can tell he seems comfortable in his skin and he’s growing into the Arsenal captain’s role really well.”
Odegaard will be hoping to keep Arsenal kicking on in the coming weeks. The Gunners face a tough test against Newcastle next, while big games against the likes of City and Man United are to come as well.
TBR’s View: Odegaard outstanding for Arsenal
There is no doubt now that Martin Odegaard is one of the players of the season so far. The Norwegian has been so good that it’s quite amazing that Arsenal landed him for just £30m.
Odegaard is now the driving force behind everything good this Arsenal team are doing. He has the respect of his teammates and is producing week on week in the PL.
If Odegaard can keep his level up, then there is no doubt this Arsenal side can win the title.
