Rio Ferdinand has hailed Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen following his performance in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City
Spurs managed to win the first leg at home in a Champions League quarter-final tie against Premier League rivals.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side now hold a slender lead ahead of the return leg at the Etihad Stadium next week and still have aspirations of reaching the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
Spurs have now won both games in their new stadium, as they followed up the victory over Crystal Palace with the European result.
Heung-Min Son scored the winner against Manchester City in the 78th minute, as he manoeuvred space for himself in the penalty area and fired in a low finish with his left foot.
Pundit Ferdinand singled out Eriksen though for his display and praised the attacking midfielder.
“I thought Eriksen creatively today was fantastic, he grew into the game,” Ferdinand said during BT Sport 2’s during televised coverage (22:10, 9 April).
“Here he turns [for the goal], beautiful deft little ball in behind the full-back.”

TBR’s View:
Eriksen popped up at a vital moment against Manchester City, as he produced the assist for Son’s goal with a lofted ball to his teammate into the penalty area.
The Denmark international has now supplied 15 assists across all competitions this campaign and is a real creative force for the North London club.
He’s not always been in the best of form this campaign, but appears to be edging back towards his best and is thriving in the new stadium so far.
With Harry Kane ending the night on crutches after an injury, there could be huge pressure on Eriksen during the remainder of the season depending on the severity of the striker’s blow.
