Tottenham Hotspur are through to the Champions League final after a dramatic semi-final triumph over Ajax. Lucas Moura was the hero with an astonishing second-half hat-trick in Amsterdam to secure a 3-3 draw on aggregate, with Spurs advancing on away goals.
Mauricio Pochettino was left in tears after the game. The achievements of the Argentine at Spurs cannot be understated. On a tight budget with a small squad, he has guided Spurs into the final of European football’s premier competition.
Tottenham have not signed a player in the last two transfer windows. With the building of a new stadium, recruitment has been kept to an absolute minimum.

In fact, the last player they signed, was last night’s hero Moura. He arrived from PSG in January 2018 for a fee reported by The Telegraph to be in the region of £25 million.
Rio Ferdinand, speaking in the BT Sport studio last night (07/05/2019) believes that is something Pochettino should remind Levy this summer.
“Pochettino should go to Daniel Levy and say ‘the last player I bought, was 18 months ago and it was Lucas Moura so I am clearly good at it.’”
Tottenham’s transfer plans for the summer could be key to future success. At the moment, Pochettino is performing miracles with this squad but improvements are clearly needed throughout the team.
If the next man to come through the door at Spurs goes on to have an impact like Moura did tonight, then Tottenham fans will undoubtedly hope for a recruitment drive.
