Rio Ferdinand and Dejan Lovren send heartfelt Instagram messages to Liverpool star
Jordan Henderson has posted a touching message on Instagram after Wednesday brought around his tenth anniversary at Liverpool. The Reds skipper has become a crucial part of the Liverpool side in recent seasons – and both Rio Ferdinand and Dejan Lovren have responded, among others.
Henderson, who turns 31 later this month, is eight appearances shy of clocking up a whopping 400 games for Liverpool – since joining in 2011. The signing of Henderson from Sunderland 10 years ago was a surprising move, which many criticised. But he has turned out to be a stunning addition.
Costing £16million (Mail), Henderson started off as a fringe player. In his early days, Henderson was a right-winger or a wing-back, before finally getting a chance in the middle of the park. Now, Liverpool struggle without him. He posted emotionally on Instagram after surpassing a decade at Anfield.
His importance to Liverpool has been highlighted even more so, this season. Playing at centre-back amid the defensive crisis, the lack of Henderson in midfield has been felt by Liverpool. Then, he suffered a long-term injury, keeping him sidelined from February onwards. He is in the Euro 2020 side.
But the ex-Sunderland man remains a doubt ahead of Sunday’s opener against Croatia. Ferdinand put Manchester United allegiance aside to heap praise on Henderson – while Lovren also commented on his post.
