‘Ridiculously good’: Alan Shearer left stunned by what 29-year-old Tottenham player has done at the World Cup

Alan Shearer has told the BBC that he was left stunned by what Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has done at the World Cup

Kane headed into the tournament with England in brilliant form after bagging 12 goals in 15 games for Tottenham in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has found the back of the net for Antonio Conte’s side consistently this season but he hasn’t managed to open his World Cup account yet.

The England captain has had a couple of decent chances but has mainly been setting his teammates up in Qatar. Kane has now assisted three times in the tournament in his opening three games.

His latest assist came last night as the Three Lions beat Wales 3-0 to top their group. Kane played a delightful ball across the box, which Phil Foden finished off.

And the pass has earned the Spurs talisman high praise from Shearer, despite the fact he believes that Kane would’ve preferred to be on the receiving end of the pass.

Shearer left stunned by Kane

Writing in his latest column for the BBC, Shearer was full of praise for Kane’s playmaking ability.

“Harry Kane still hasn’t had a shot on target at this World Cup, but he now has three assists, and his cross for Foden to score was ridiculously good – he put the ball exactly where he would have wanted it to put it away himself,” he wrote.

Kane will probably be slightly annoyed that he hasn’t opened his World Cup account yet, especially as he is only two goals away from becoming England’s all-time top scorer.

The Spurs man didn’t get one the scoresheet during the group stage at last year’s Euros either, but he came up big in the knockout stages.

Kane will be hoping history repeats itself and he begins to find the back of the net against Senegal this Sunday.

But the Spurs star is proving to be an essential part of Gareth Southgate’s side, even if he isn’t scoring goals.
