‘New Phil Brown’: Richard Keys slams Jesse Marsch for his antics at The King Power stadium

Leeds lost 1-0 to Leicester City today as Jesse Marsch fell to defeat in his first game in charge of the Whites.

A goal from Harvey Barnes was enough for the Foxes to see off Leeds, who played well throughout and will have been disappointed not to score themselves.

Marsch was seen being visibly involved in the game throughout. He was willing his team on both in attack and defence and even celebrated whenever his team won possession back in the transitions. However, not everything he did impressed everyone.

Following the game, Marsch was seen gathering his players for an on-field huddle and teamtalk. Of course, it’s not something we see in the Premier League a lot and it certainly raised eyebrows. Not least, it seems, among BEIN Sports presenter, Richard Keys.

“I am beginning to wonder what this is. Why not do it in the dressing room? Get them in, get Roberts on the treatment table and talk about the game. Who’s it impressing? Certainly not me? The new Phil Brown. It’s just not for me, I don’t understand” Keys commented on BEIN Sports.

Fellow pundit Andy Gray also lamented the decision, questioning whether it was ‘for effect’.

TBR’s View: Leeds Players Will Find This Strange

It’s certainly something we don’t see a lot in England as Gray pointed out, it didn’t end well for Phil Brown when he did it.

Although, it was in different circumstances. Maybe Marsch was just trying to show a bit of solidarity with his team and show the Leeds fans they are up for the fight? Who knows.

Whatever it was, it will be interesting to see if it’s a contuing feature.
