Ricardo Quaresma has been pictured alongside a Rangers fan holding up the club’s new orange away kit on Twitter, nine years after the Gers failed in a reported bid to bring Quaresma to Ibrox on loan.

Quaresma, now 35 years of age, is currently with Turkish giants Besiktas where he has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract. He was in sensational form last season.

Indeed, the former Inter Milan, Chelsea and Barcelona superstar scored four goals but produced an enormous 14 assists in just 34 outings. It remains to be seen if he will remain at Besiktas this summer.

The Daily Record claimed way back in 2010 that Rangers had tried to sign Quaresma on January deadline day, but a move to land the Inter star had failed. Nine years on, he is pictured with a Rangers shirt.

TBR’s view – Quaresma should be back-up if Rangers fail with Kent

Rangers are desperate to sign Kent this summer and Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is waiting on a phone call from Liverpool over whether they will sign the former Bristol City loanee.

But if Rangers fail to land Kent, Quaresma should be targeted. Yes, he is 35, but he will offer excellent advice to the likes of young wingers Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones, Sheyi Ojo and more.

Kent or Quaresma, Rangers will dramatically improve their side and close the gap between themselves and Celtic.
