Rhian Brewster has suggested that he loved seeing both Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk return to action for Liverpool last night.
The comeback
The two central defenders have been working their way back from injury for some time at Liverpool now, after missing almost the entirety of last season.
But Gomez and Van Dijk are now back in business again.
The two defenders came off the bench for Liverpool in their 4-3 defeat to Hertha Berlin.
And both Brewster, who left Liverpool to join Sheffield United last year, and Andy Robertson were delighted for the central defensive pair.
Big for Liverpool
Gomez and Van Dijk’s returns for Liverpool could be absolutely massive for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool were never able to settle upon a central defensive pairing last term, with Klopp having to use multiple options.
That certainly hurt Liverpool’s chances of success, but Klopp now has great options at the back – especially after Ibrahima Konate’s arrival.
And although both defenders will need to work on their match sharpness, it would not be a surprise if either lined up against Norwich City on opening day.
