Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic has admitted that the squad would love to see Neil Lennon land the permanent manager job, The Scottish Sun reports.

Lennon is the interim manager of Celtic, until the end of the season, and the club are no clearer to deciding who Brendan Rodgers’ long-term successor will be.

Several names have been circulating in recent weeks but Simunovic would like Lennon to get the job.

The 24-year-old defender has enjoyed a revival under Simunovic after falling out of favour with Rodgers as manager.

Simunovic has been recalled for the last three matches and helped Celtic to a semi-final victory over Aberdeen at the weekend.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, the Bosnian centre-back said: “Things are going really well. It is all good. It’s not just me, I think the other players want it to happen too.

“But there are some things the players can’t decide, that is for others. But I would say all players are happy at the moment with the coaching staff.”

Lennon can bolster his chances of getting the Celtic job if he guides the club to their third consecutive treble.

The Bhoys have all but wrapped up the Scottish Premiership title so the big game will be the Scottish Cup final against Hearts at the end of May.

Celtic could wait until the summer before deciding on their next permanent manager. But Lennon appears to be a popular choice with the squad and that could carry significant weight.
