Last month, it was reported by The Sun that Leeds United were keen on a loan deal for Chelsea talent Jake Clarke-Salter. The report claimed that Leeds were keen on the England under-21 captain as potential cover at centre-back.
The news soon went cold. The report stated that Leeds’ frosty relationship with new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard might have caused issues regarding any deal. So perhaps that killed off any interest.
However, when Pontus Jansson left in a shock swap to Brentford earlier this month, Clarke-Salter’s name was quickly doing the rounds again.

However, it appears Leeds have missed out.
According to The Sun, Swansea City are hopeful of signing the player this summer. The Swans have holes that need filling at the back and new manager Steve Cooper has previously worked with him in the England youth set-up.
Wales Online have also reported on the story, suggesting that Swansea have beaten Leeds to the player’s signature.
Leeds fans will likely doubt just how interested the club ever were in the 21-year-old. It appears that Marcelo Bielsa is happy to play it tight with numbers at the back yet again this season. But even if Leeds do decide to bring in another centre-back, it now looks as though Clarke-Salter might be off the list.
