One of Steve Bruce’s final moves as Aston Villa manager was to finalise a deal for Yannick Bolasie. The one-time £25 million Everton winger was told to find a new club by Marco Silva in the summer and headed to Villa Park instead of joining former Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis at Middlesbrough.
It was a marquee signing. Bolasie was one of the Premier League’s most enigmatic wingers until a knee injury but still showed flashes of his brilliance during his final season at Everton.
However, it has not been a dream start to life at the club. Bolasie has two goals for the club but has not yet started a game for his new side. Bruce has also gone, replaced by Dean Smith. Against Norwich City yesterday, the DR Congo winger was not even in the matchday squad.
As confirmed by Smith, Bolasie was left at Bodymoor Heath to work on his strength for a Friday clash with QPR.

The Birmingham Mail reports that the Aston Villa winger is still not up to full match fitness and must monitor his knee carefully after his recent injury troubles.
This should be worrying news for Aston Villa. The reason why surrounds the reports of how much Aston Villa are paying the winger. According to the Birmingham Mail, they are paying his £70,000-a-week Everton wages in full.
Bolasie has not impressed fans with his displays yet and it seems he is far from fully fit. Some have even suggested he is simply a waste of wages at present.
Albert Adomah is likely to miss the QPR game Friday, so perhaps Bolasie will be in line for his first Aston Villa start. But if things do not turn around soon, then the club will have to consider cutting their losses and sending the expensive loanee packing.
