Reports of Leeds wanting £18m-rated trickster should panic Englishman - TBR View
Leeds United rumours suggest Rangers star Ryan Kent is a target for them this summer, which should panic Englishman Ian Poveda.
Poveda, 21, is a highly-rated Leeds youngster who plays in the first team at Elland Road.
The London-born winger played 16 senior games across all competitions last season for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, so must be wanting to build on that going into the new campaign.
However, he should be panicked by reports that suggest the Yorkshire club are looking to sign a new wide player.
Give Me Sport claims that Leeds are eyeing a potential double raid on Scottish champions Rangers. Kent, along with teammate Glen Kamara, are the Rangers duo that Leeds are considering trying to bring to the Premier League.
Ryan Kent would be another huge obstacle for Leeds talent Ian Poveda
£18million-rated Kent is a talented left-winger who’s been influential at Ibrox under manager Steven Gerrard.
The 24-year-old trickster finished last season with 13 goals and 15 assists, which statistically is his best campaign so far.
He’s someone that looks good enough for the Premier League, so it would be no surprise to see the ex-Liverpool man return to England.
However, Poveda should hope it’s not with Leeds.
The Whites youngster is already stuck behind the starting pair of Jack Harrison and Raphinha in the Leeds XI. Also, Helder Costa is still in the squad as another option for Bielsa.
Poveda’s chances of playing regularly surely become even slimmer if a marquee signing is made in the wide positions.
Bielsa did admit at one point last season Poveda deserves more minutes because of his quality. However, the potential addition of a new winger is going to be a major problem.
