Everton have reportedly come to terms with James Rodriguez over a move to Goodison Park. It has been reported by beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri that Everton have agreed a €4.5 million-a-year salary (roughly £77,000-a-week) with the Colombian and that only an agreement between Everton and Real Madrid stands in the way of a deal.
El Desmarque has also relayed the same report, suggesting that Real want €25 million (£22.3m) for the attacker. However, Everton want to reduce that fee and the report claims that is likely. It is claimed that James will not be showing up for training, Zinedine Zidane is giving his player the silent treatment and that Real will ‘probably accept a reduction’ as they look to find harmony in the squad.

MARCA Claro is also suggesting the deal is ‘very close’ to being done. Everton reportedly want to tie up the deal before the Premier League season gets underway. They also report that James is preparing his family to make the move to England and is working hard in the gym to be in good shape, allowing him to be immediately available to Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti and James have a special relationship, having worked together at both Real and Bayern Munich. Clearly that is a massive help in Everton having any chance of signing the one-time World Cup Golden Ball winner.
Everton fans will no doubt be excited about this potential arrival, and will hope they get the James of old, not the one who has been festering at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent times.
