Reports claim Maguire wants to leave Leicester, while Maddison tells club he’ll stay

Harry Maguire wants to leave Leicester City this summer to join reigning champions Manchester City, according to the Daily Mail.

They report that the England international will snub Manchester United to join Pep Guardiola’s side, with the Foxes set to demand a world-record fee for a defender.

Meanwhile, the Sun report that James Maddison has told the club he wants to stay at the King Power, despite also having interest from City and United – as well as Champions League finalists Tottenham and Liverpool.

That makes it a mixed update for Brendan Rodgers as he looks to kick on from an impressive end to the season and shape Leicester into a side capable of competing for a European spot.

Maguire is obviously further along in his development than Maddison and his taste of global stardom at last summer’s World Cup might have pushed him to move to a club that is capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Maddison had a strong first season in the Premier League but still has plenty of improving to do – and staying at Leicester is the best move for his development.

He should play most weeks under Rodgers, but could get swallowed up at one of the big six with their bloated squad and heavy rotation.
