Reporter shares how £26m Tottenham Hotspur player feels about not being picked right now

Radu Dragusin is understood to be ‘relaxed’ about his situation at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham pulled off quite the coup in January, beating Bayern Munich to the signing of defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa for £26million.

We could hardly have blamed Tottenham fans for fearing the worst when Bayern tried to hijack the deal for Dragusin.

Just months after Harry Kane swapped Tottenham for Bayern, Dragusin had the chance to snub Spurs for the Bundesliga giants.

Instead, Dragusin picked Tottenham, representing a major signing for Spurs and the Ange Postecoglou era.

The problem is that Dragusin hasn’t started a single game for Tottenham yet, leaving fans to wonder just when he will play.

Radu Dragusin mood at Tottenham explained

Dragusin has played just eight minutes of Premier League action across three substitute appearances.

The reality is that Dragusin faces a tough battle to get into the Tottenham side right now.

Spurs already have two star centre backs in Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, meaning Dragusin needs to remain patient.

Agent Florin Manea suggested last week that there is ‘nothing to worry about’ and the situation is ‘normal’.

Manea is hoping to see Dragusin play more regularly after Tottenham’s defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has now told A View From The Lane that he believes Dragusin is ‘pretty relaxed’ about the situation.

Pitt-Brooke adds that Dragusin understands that he is new to the Premier League and Tottenham don’t have additional games in the FA Cup or Europe right now.

That means there are limited chances for Dragusin to play, but he would be expected to feature if Romero or Van de Ven are missing.

“Dragusin was a fantastic player in Italy and I gather he’s pretty relaxed about the situation,” said Pitt-Brooke. “He knows that Tottenham don’t have a lot of games this season to allow opportunities for different players, he’s coming into a new league, the two centre backs are currently vey well-established and playing well and fit and not suspended, but as soon as any of those things ceases to be the case, Dragusin will come straight in and play,” he added.

The Romanian is clearly a big talent and he knew what he was signing up for when he joined Tottenham.

Romero and Van de Ven have become Postecoglou’s clear first-choice pairing and Dragusin just needs to make sure that he is ready to go whenever he gets a chance.

It’s great to hear that Dragusin isn’t growing agitated at his lack of playing time and that level-headed nature should stand him and Tottenham in good stead for the future.
