West Ham United are in a position like many other Premier League clubs this summer and that is they must sell players before they can bring in additions – and a reportedly transfer-listed Hammers star is perfect for Leeds.
The Hammers are keen to bring in a number of signings this summer, with a midfielder, a right-back, and a striker said to be high on their shortlist. Eberechi Eze of QPR has been strongly linked with a move to east London.
But in order for David Moyes to spend, he must sell and the Evening Standard claims he has transfer-listed high earners Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini in a bid to raise funds ahead of summer buys.
The latter is utterly perfect for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds. The Whites are also expected to make signings after promotion to the Premier League and one area they could look to strengthen is Mateusz Klich’s midfield partner.
Adam Forshaw has been sidelined for much of the season, while Tyler Roberts, Pablo Hernandez, Stuart Dallas and Jamie Shackleton have all been used alongside Poland international Klich.
So, an attacking central midfielder is ideal. Twin that with the need of Premier League experience following promotion, and perhaps a player that would suit Bielsa’s style – and Argentine Lanzini is perfect.
A £9million (Guardian) signing after initially joining West Ham on loan, Lanzini has since played 134 ties for the Hammers. He has scored 21 goals and created 20 more, but the Argentina star has dropped down the pecking order.
Still only 27, Lanzini is yet to hit his peak and Leeds have got to take advantage. He would be perfect for the Whites – filling the hole alongside Klich, providing top-flight experience, and adding an Argentine tinge to Bielsa’s Leeds.
With West Ham transfer-listing him, it remains to be seen how much his asking price will be – the Mirror claimed he was rated at £30million in 2017. But surely he is the ideal signing for Leeds this summer?
