Reports from Argentina, specifically El Crack Deportivo, say that Tottenham could be closing in on a deal for Colombia international Wilmar Barrios for as little as 23 million euros.
Yet, the news could be an indication that Victor Wanyama’s time at the club is coming to an end.
The Kenyan international has not started a single Premier League fixture this season and the arrival of another tough tackling and combative force in the middle of the park would only push him further down the pecking order.

After struggling last season to regain his best form, Mauricio Pochettino may well be running out of patience with his former Southampton man.
Wanyama is clearly a popular figure with the manager, but if he feels that his game is on the decline at 27-years-old, swapping him for a 25-year-old Barrios, who may be raw but has huge potential to continue improving, may make perfect sense.
At 23 million euros too, it would be a real bargain buy for a player who caught the eye at the World Cup this summer and looks to have many of the attributes required to succeed in the Premier League.
