Diario AS is reporting that Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez could be leaving the club in the summer. Real Madrid are not desperate to offload the attacker. However, his current deal expires in 2021 and with talented youngsters like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Brahim and Martin Odegaard all coming through Real are open to letting him leave in the summer.
So should Arsenal rekindle their interest in the 28-year-old from the summer?
Unai Emery was reportedly keen on signing his countryman in the summer. ABC in Spain was reporting that Arsenal were ready to make a €33 million (£27.5m) move for the player. However, Vazquez was happy at Real and no deal ever happened.
The reports re-emerged in October. El Desmarque suggested Arsenal could make a move in January, with that asking price reducing to £17.2 million.
Now it seems Vazquez is available again, should Arsenal make their move?
It would certainly depend on Mikel Arteta. He may not be as big a fan of Vazquez as Emery seemingly was.
As for the fans, the signing of Real Madrid’s long-term peripheral jobber might not have the Emirates faithful over-the-moon with excitement.
But as a trusted option to help Arsenal’s attack, it might be something to consider.
