Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Tanguy Ndombele has seemingly provided the club with a huge boost, after suggesting he would sign for the north Londoners amid heavy speculation.

The Lyon midfielder is highly coveted after a superb 2018/19.

A host of clubs have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, including Tottenham’s fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Frenchman could set potential suitors back £70 million this summer, and Spurs are hoping to stave off the competition.

Given Ndombele’s latest comments, there’s a good chance of that happening.

In an interview with Telefoot, he said (translated by The Metro): “Yes, it’s true that Tottenham are a great team.

“They are a big club, they finished fourth in their league, they reached the Champions League final, they are still a big club like any other. Which player would not be interested in a big club?”

TBR’s view

It’s exactly what Spurs fans would have hoped to hear.

The Ndombele saga has been long and drawn out, but this is a real suggestion that the proposed move could soon be completed.

Ideally for Ndombele, he would go straight into the starting lineup with Mousa Dembele having still not been truly replaced.

Moussa Sissoko filled in exceptionally for the Belgian, but perhaps he can take the place of Christian Eriken if the Dane is sold this summer.

Ndombele’s box-to-box style is exactly what Spurs need, and it’s now looking like they stand an excellent chance of getting him.
