Tottenham Hotspur are still reportedly in the hunt for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are still hoping to bring the centre-back in from the Championship side before the Friday deadline for final domestic transfers.
They claim that, despite failing with a previous £7 million move, Tottenham could move closer to the Welsh club’s £20 million asking price and have an advantage over similarly interested Leicester City in that they want to conclude a deal this month, not wait until January.
Tottenham also have an advantage in the presence of two current international team-mates of Rodon’s being at the North London club.
Both Ben Davies and Gareth Bale are known to the youngster and The Sun claim Tottenham are hoping both will be working on the player to convince him into the move.

Rodon, in the past, has been particularly high in praise for one of those players.
The 22-year-old first linked up with the Welsh senior side when they were short in numbers back in 2017. At that point, he was still only a Swansea under-23 player and it is fair to say he was blown away by the presence of Tottenham’s on-loan attacker Gareth Bale in training.
“It was amazing – I have never experienced anything like it,” the then-teenager told the Swansea City website in 2017. “Gareth Bale was on a different level, as you would expect. Everything he did was up there – you could see why he is one of the best players in the world even in one training session.”
Tottenham are now giving Rodon the chance to train every day with a player he clearly has a very high opinion of and that must be a major temptation for the youngster.
Tottenham fans will be hoping it is just another piece of the puzzle that helps get this deal over the line.
