Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the signature of Schalke 04 goalkeeper Alexander Nubel. As first reported by talkSPORT, Tottenham are interested in the player who is out of contract in the summer. Considering he has been compared to Manuel Neuer by many, Tottenham fans were right to get excited about the links.
However, that comparison is clearly not lost on Bayern Munich, who have been heavily linked themselves with a potential deal to sign Nubel as Neuer’s long-term replacement.

So what has the player said about a potential move abroad?
When quizzed on the topic last month by German publication Sport1 the 23-year-old clearly sounded open to the idea of leaving Germany.
“Of course, footballing factors are a part of it (my future decision), but most of all personal and family things.
“These factors include things like foreign countries, where you could say you learn something for your life.
“I have not set a deadline. I will decide how it comes. I have all the possibilities at the moment and I am glad that I have no deadline.”
TBR’s View
Tottenham fans will no doubt realise that the club need to start considering a potential long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman, currently out injured with a dislocated elbow, is 33 in December and has gradually been in decline for Tottenham.
It has seemed that Ajax stopper Andre Onana was the number-one choice for Tottenham going forward but Nubel would represent a free option in the summer and, if he does emulate these ‘next Neuer’ comparisons, would represent a shrewd piece of business from Tottenham.
