Arsenal are again being linked with a move for Real Betis attacker Nabil Fekir.
It was first suggested by The Mirror last month that Arsenal were keen on the attacker, who joined Real Betis last summer. Now, according to Diario AS, Arsenal will have to pay a fee in the region of £43.5 million to secure the services of the Frenchman.
It is not the first time Arsenal have been linked with Fekir. In fact, the player himself has previously spoken about a potential move to The Emirates.
The comments came back in 2014, as Fekir was being linked with a move to Arsenal from Lyon.
Fekir admitted to Telefoot, as reported by Goal, that he was hoping to one day join ‘a big club’ and that the Arsenal interest flattered him.
“Arsenal? It’s a pleasure to know that clubs are interested. But for now I’m well at OL. I’m an ambitious person. I hope I’ll get to play in a big club one day. It’s a dream. I hope I’ll be able to realize it someday.”
Well, not much has changed in that respect. Whilst Fekir has moved on from Lyon you would struggle to find anyone who considers Betis to be ‘a big club’ on the level that Arsenal are.
The general consensus is that Fekir moved to Betis in order to hopefully fulfil a dream of one day playing for Barcelona.
However, that does not look likely in the near future and Arsenal would be a perfect location for the World Cup winner to showcase his talents on the bigger stage.
