Everton are reportedly interested in a move for Sassuolo attacker Jeremie Boga. It is reported by Goal that Everton are joining Carlo Ancelotti’s former club Napoli in the pursuit of the Ivorian international. Brighton and Inter Milan are also said to be keen on the £17 million rated starlet.

Boga’s name may be familiar to English football fans, as he was a former Birmingham City loanee and Chelsea youth-team product.

In fact, during his time at Chelsea, he faced off with the Everton under-21s.

Boga starred against David Unsworth’s youngsters back in September 2014. He scored both goals as Chelsea picked up a 2-0 win at Finch Farm.

It was a performance that earned a ‘world-class’ label from then-Chelsea youth coach Adie Viveash when discussing the game on the Chelsea website.

“Jeremie’s goals were two world-class strikes but his work off the ball and his screening was the best I’ve seen from him in the first half and I’m delighted with that.”

Boga was the stand-out in that game despite the presence of players such as Ola Aina, Dominic Solanke and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the Chelsea XI.

Since then, Boga has struggled to live up to his potential until he made the move to Italy and now he looks like a potential bargain buy for the Merseyside club.

Hopefully, if he does arrive, he can live up to that initial ‘world-class’ promise.
