According to Russian media outlet RT, Everton are ready to reignite their summer interest in Zenit St Petersburg striker Artem Dzyuba.

Marco Silva was reportedly keen on Dzyuba after his impressive World Cup campaign and he could launch a January move for the towering striker.

The 6ft 5in striker is said to be interested by a move to England, with Everton hoping he can address the striker problems at Goodison Park.

Oumar Niasse has been shipped out this month, while Silva is hesitant to use Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun.

Richarlison is normally deployed as the centre-forward but the Brazilian youngster’s primary position is in attacking midfield.

Dzyuba fits the bill as a physical presence up front but his style of play would not suit Silva’s Everton.

The 30-year-old is effective in the air but does not have the pace to play a high-tempo game or run the channels like Richarlison can.

Moreover, Dzyuba’s goal scoring record is not prolific enough to justify a change of system to work around his strengths.

With five goals in 16 league games for Zenit this season, his goal return is reasonable but not eye-catching.

The step up to the Premier League would be difficult for the Russia international to manage halfway through a season, especially in a side that plays in a different style to what he is used to.

It is not worth Everton shelling out the money on Dzyuba this month; they are better advised to wait until the summer to land a striker target.
