There was a period of time this summer when Leeds United were being linked with nearly every Argentine talent on and off the continent.
The likes of Rodrigo De Paul, Thiago Almada, Juan Foyth, Sergio Romero, and Lucas Martinez Quarta all found themselves linked with a potential move to Elland Road throughout the summer.
Another talented young Argentine seemingly on the radar for Leeds was Matias Zaracho.
As reported by Doble Amarilla, Leeds were keen on Zaracho this summer. MARCA later suggested that Zaracho had a release clause of £20 million which seemed a big fee for Leeds to pay for the Racing Club playmaker, considering his lack of European experience.

But it turns out that Zaracho was available for much less and has now made a move elsewhere.
Earlier this week it was reported by Globo Esporte that Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro had secured a deal for the player.
That deal was made official yesterday, as reported on the Brazilian side’s website. As reported by UOL Esporte, he cost around R$33 million (£4.5 million) and has signed until 2025. That fee is undoubtedly a bargain, although the Brazilian side only acquired 50 percent of his transferable rights, meaning Racing will cash in on half of any transfer should Atletico sell Zaracho.
Leeds went a different path this summer, instead of bringing in players who have proven themselves in European football such as Rodrigo Moreno, Raphinha, and Diego Llorente.
But they will no doubt be keeping tabs on Zaracho as a potential option for the future when he will likely cost a lot more than that £4.5 million fee.
