Reported Spurs target could join rivals today, Fabrizio Romano has hinted
Spurs have been linked with Jules Kounde in recent weeks, but it looks as though he’ll be joining Chelsea instead.
Earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano claimed Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici had been in touch with Kounde’s agent.
“It’s true that they had direct contact with his agent,” Romano said on Chris Cowlin’s Youtube channel.
“Kounde is really appreciated by Paratici, he thinks he’s one of the best centre-backs he could sign for Tottenham.”
However, the Sevilla ace reportedly rejected Spurs’ advances as he is apparently holding out for a Champions League team.
And yesterday, speculation linking Chelsea and Kounde quickly picked up pace.
Romano claimed the two parties were in advanced talks over a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, an agreement was reportedly ready on personal terms with Chelsea and a deal until 2026 is on the cards.
And now, Romano has responded to a fan’s request for Kounde information with the following tweet:
Kounde moved to Sevilla two years ago and has gone on to establish himself as one of the most promising defenders in Europe.
The 22-year-old helped the Spanish club qualify for the Champions League last season
Kounde was also part of France’s Euro 2020 squad this summer.
