Reported Rangers target Florian Kamberi flies home, set for talks with three other clubs

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is not finished in the transfer business he wants done at Ibrox this summer, with the Rangers boss wanting several more arrivals in order to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.

One area where Rangers are clearly open to improvement is in the striking options at Ibrox. Whilst Gerrard will undoubtedly be pleased that, so far, Alfredo Morelos is committed to remaining with Rangers and that Jermain Defoe is still around, a third-choice striker is high on his list of targets.

But one player it appears it will not be is former Rangers loanee Florian Kamberi.

The Swiss striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox, scoring once, before the global health crisis cut Rangers’ season short.

There had been reports that Rangers were ready to bring Kamberi back to the club this summer.

The Daily Record has reported that Rangers could secure his signature for an initial fee of £100,000, with additional add-ons making the overall package higher. However, Rangers were seemingly only interested in another loan deal.

As reported by the Glasgow Evening Times, Kamberi and his current club Hibernian were never open to that idea, with just 12 months left to run in his current deal at Easter Road.

The same report claims that Kamberi has now returned to Switzerland where three clubs, St Gallen, Young Boys, and Basel, are all keen on his signature. He is set to start discussions with the clubs in the weeks to some.

Rangers will seemingly be moving on to other potential striker options this summer.
