Reported Newcastle target Lucas Vazquez could be St. James’ favourite

Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez.

According to El Desmarque, the Magpies are targeting the Spaniard, who is down in the pecking order at the Bernabeu at the moment under Zinedine Zidane.

The three-time Champions League winner has the likes of Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for competition in the wide areas, making minutes hard to come by.

He has made nine appearances in all competitions so far, but could well seek an exit in one of the next two transfer windows.

Newcastle are interested, as are West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but perhaps a move would be harder to facilitate now Rafa Benitez has left St. James’ Park.

He was the man who signed Vazquez for Real during his short stint as manager.

With Benitez no longer in the picture a move for Vazquez might be trickier to pull off, but he’s the kind of player who’d have the potential to become a real crowd favourite if he joined.

He may not be the most gifted technician, but he works his socks off at Madrid and has shown a capacity to play in different positions down the years for the good of the team.

Newcastle fans appreciate players who give their all for the badge, and the lively 28-year-old would do exactly that if he did sign.
