Liverpool will not be signing Ajax defender, Perr Schurrs, after the defender signed a new deal with the Dutch giants for a further five years.
The Daily Mail claimed in December that Schurrs had emerged as a target for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, with a £27m fee said to be enough if the Reds fancied the move.

But Ajax have confirmed today that the impressive young defender has indeed put pen to paper on a new deal, ending any talk of an immediate move away from the Netherlands.
It means Liverpool will now need to broaden their search for a new defender, if indeed Schurrs was one they were considering.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is said to remain open to the idea of bringing a new face in. A number of defenders have been mentioned, with Sergio Ramos, Eder Militao, and Ben White among the names being linked.

For Schurrs, though, it seems he’ll be concentrating on Ajax for the foreseeable future at least.
TBR View: One that got away? Time will tell
Of course, Schurrs could always end up in England anyway and this might just be a way of Ajax protecting themselves and ensuring they get a good fee if they do sell.
Time will tell if this is a move that backfires on the Reds. Obviously, they’d like a new defender, but they also aren’t desperate, given Fabinho’s excellence and Joel Matip’s pending return.
Schurrs is one to keep an eye on, though.
