Reported Leicester City summer target Ozan Kabak available at half the price

Leicester City have certainly had to show some flexibility when it comes to the centre-back position this season.

Injuries to Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Daniel Amartey, and midfield relief Wilfried Ndidi have left the Foxes struggling in the position at times and there is no doubt that they could benefit from some extra cover at the heart of defence.

Now, an apparent previous transfer target for Leicester is on the market for a cut-price and the Foxes must take notice.

The Daily Mail reported in August that Leicester are keen on Schalke defender Ozan Kabak, a player who has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs.

Soyuncu’s international team-mate with Turkey was, however, quite an expensive proposition in the summer, which is no longer the case.

SportBild is reporting that AC Milan made an offer of €20 million (£18m) for the player in the summer which was swiftly rejected by the Gelsenkirchen club.

At the time, the Germans wanted at least £40 million for the player. But the new report now suggests that is not the case. Schalke’s finances have been heavily impacted by the global health crisis, and an offer of a similar amount would have to be accepted in January.

That means Leicester could add a perfect long-term centre-back partner for Soyuncu and the impressive Wesley Fofana this January at a cut-price.
