Reported Leeds United summer target Nemanja Radoja shoots down Barcelona and Lionel Messi

This summer saw Leeds United linked with a move for Serbian international Nemanja Radoja. It was reported by TEAMtalk that Leeds were keen on the midfielder. Radoja was a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo and he would have been an eye-catching recruit for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

However, it always looked more likely that Radoja was set to remain in Spain and, in the end, that is what happened.

Radoja signed with Levante on a free transfer and the Leeds rumours came to nothing.

Well, yesterday the Serbian proved just what he might have been able to bring to Leeds United.

The 26-year-old scored his first goal for his new club yesterday and he picked a perfect team to do it against.

Radoja scored the third goal, his first since scoring for Celta in January 2017, as Levante pulled off a marquee 3-1 win over Spanish giants Barcelona.

Barca had taken the lead through Lionel Messi but goals from Jose Campana and Borja Mayoral had given Levante a 2-1 lead with quickfire goals. Radoja then smashed home a left-foot volley in the 68th-minute to secure a historic win.

Leeds United’s interest in Radoja always seemed to be more of a rumour. However, based on his start to life with the La Liga side, Leeds might have been right to act on any interest.
