Reported Leeds transfer target has just started following the club and Jesse Marsch on Instagram

Leeds United are reportedly in transfer negotiations to sign talented young goalkeeper Senne Lammens this month.

Belgian outlet HLN reports that the 20-year-old Club Brugge goalkeeper is now in talks to make the move to Elland Road.

His contract runs out this summer, which means he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs and has been since the start of this month.

That situation also means if he does move this month, Leeds should not really expect to pay too much in the way of a transfer fee.

The report claims that Leeds wanted the goalkeeper in the summer, but having been unable to agree a deal then, have now come back in.

A lack of gametime at Club Brugge is apparently a factor in his decision not to sign a new contract, like Brugge have been trying to get him to do.

And it seems that perhaps a move is getting closer, as Lammens has now started following the club on Instagram.

He has also followed manager Jesse Marsch and potential new goalkeeping colleague Illan Meslier amid swirling rumours about a switch to Leeds.

Leeds have put a huge emphasis on getting young players through the door and they do tend to try and give them opportunities when they can.

But the situation is slightly different for goalkeepers, especially when Leeds have one of the best young stoppers in the world in Meslier.

Lammens could be a sign that Leeds are planning long term for Meslier’s eventual departure, although nothing looks imminent on that score at all right now.

Or, they could be getting in a talented backup, but you would still think there is a need there for experienced cover in the ranks.
