Reported Leeds target Josko Gvardiol follows Whites on Instagram

It was reported by the Daily Mail at the start of the week that Leeds United are in talks with Dinamo Zagreb regarding a potential move for Josko Gvardiol.

Gvardiol has only made a handful of senior appearances for the club. But he has caught the eye as Marcelo Bielsa’s side look to strengthen their defensive ranks.

In fact, Croatian outlet 24 Sata then reported that Leeds had made a £17.8 million bid for the 18-year-old. It was suggested that Dinamo had not responded to the offer, but would find it difficult to turn it down.

It remains to be seen if Leeds are successful in their pursuit of Gvardiol. But there does appear to have been the slightest hint on social media that the teenager is open to moving to Elland Road.

At the time of writing, Gvardiol follows 522 accounts on Instagram. And amongst those on the list is Leeds United’s official account.

Interestingly, it appears that Gvardiol does not follow many football clubs. Leeds are joined by the likes of Liverpool and RB Leipzig on the list.

Of course, that will count for nothing if Leeds cannot agree terms with Dinamo and then Gvardiol. But perhaps there is reason for small encouragement.

Gvardiol is surely unlikely to make Leeds one of the only teams he follows if he has no interest in what is going on at Elland Road.

So it will be very interesting to see whether the reports come to something and Gvardiol ends up appearing on the Leeds account that he currently follows in the near future.
