According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leeds United are one of the sides interested in signing Emile Smith Rowe this summer.

Smith Rowe is attracting plenty of attention this summer. The Daily Mail reports that Monaco have had a bid rejected, while Leeds and Fulham want the 20-year-old on loan. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace reportedly want the youngster on a permanent basis.

The starlet looks to be an incredibly exciting talent. And in truth, it would be little surprise if he got his chance to impress in the Premier League sooner or later.

One advantage he may already have over some of the other players to have been linked with Leeds this summer however, is that Smith Rowe already holds something of a place in Whites folklore.

The attacking midfielder spent the latter half of last season on loan at Huddersfield Town, who faced West Bromwich Albion in their penultimate game of the campaign.

It was, of course, the game that the Baggies had to win to deny Marcelo Bielsa’s side clinching automatic-promotion to the Premier League.

And it was Smith Rowe who scored the late goal that gave Huddersfield the win and allowed Leeds fans to celebrate just that little bit earlier.

Admittedly, the Whites were already on course to go up before his winner. The score was 1-1 before Smith Rowe cooly found the bottom corner.

But the goal removed virtually any chance of West Brom securing the win that would have delayed Leeds’s celebrations a little longer.

Of course, the pressure will be on Smith Rowe to impress should he join Leeds. But his goal last season surely gives him a head start as he looks to win the supporters over.
