Tottenham were linked with Ajax defender Sergino Dest back in May and there has been no further speculation since, but perhaps they now have a trump card up their sleeve to try sign him.
Italian publication Calciomercato claimed in May that Spurs were interested in signing the 19-year-old right-back.
Bleacher Report also reported back in October 2019 too that the north London club had the teenager on their transfer radar alongside rivals Arsenal.
Dest is an attack-minded full-back that impressed during the 2019/20 campaign for Dutch giants Ajax, supplying six assists in 35 games across all competitions.
The United States international has enjoyed a breakout year in the Eredivise and Ajax are a club renowned for producing special young talents.
TBR View – Spurs may have trump card for Dest
With Dest someone that is clearly on the Spurs radar, it’s interesting that a fresh report has just come out linking Ajax with one of their players.
The Telegraph reports on Friday that Ajax have made an enquiry to ask about the availability of Spurs winger Ryan Sessegnon, as they are interested in taking him on loan for the new season.
It is understood that manager Jose Mourinho expects a bright future for 20-year-old Sessegnon, but is yet to make his mind up on his future going into next season.
Spurs are now in a position where they could potentially look to loan out Sessegnon to Ajax next year, where he could take huge strides forward in his game, but at the same time try renew their interest in Dest by suggesting he moves in the other direction.
