Leeds United will reportedly start formal discussions with attacker Kemar Roofe about a new contract imminently and manager Marcelo Bielsa deserves immense credit for the influence he’s had on the player.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites have had preliminary dialogue with the 25-year-old’s representatives about an improved deal and talks will commence after this month’s international break.
The report details that the Englishman is looking to extend his deal beyond 2020 and land an improved contract that makes him one of the highest earners at Elland Road.
Roofe is currently sidelined through injury, but scored four goals in just seven games before his setback and was the talisman for the team.

Bielsa deserves huge credit for helping him make a step up in his game, as last season he was deployed in a number of attacking positions across the forward line and never found consistency.
But the Argentinian boss has put faith in Roofe as his first-choice striker and reaped the rewards from it.
He scored 14 goals across all competitions last season for the Yorkshire giants, but could surely smash that tally if he has better luck with fitness for the rest of the campaign.
Roofe’s new deal would be a reward for his improvement during his time at Leeds, but it’s clear he is making his biggest strides yet under Bielsa.
