Reported Elneny exit could be the break Bielik craves at Arsenal

Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny is the subject of interest from Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux (The Times).

The Egyptian is very much on the fringes at the Emirates Stadium, having been handed just 17 appearances last term.

The £5 million signing from FC Basel (BBC Sport) has never truly convinced for the Gunners, and it would appear he could be moving on this summer, with Unai Emery eyeing several player sales to boost his transfer kitty.

Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are all ahead of him in the pecking order and his chances of getting regular minutes going forwards are slim.

One man who might secretly be hoping for the 26-year-old’s departure is Krystian Bielik, who craves a chance to play in the Gunners first-team.

TBR’s view

Bielik has stated (quoted by that he will not go back to playing with the U23s in 2019/20, putting pressure on Emery to promote him to the first-team.

Perhaps that will become likely if Elneny departs.

Bielik is naturally a centre-back, but is also comfortable operating as a holding midfielder thanks to his impressive ball-playing ability.

With Elneny having filled in at centre-back in the past on occasion, Bielik would arguably be a like-for-like replacement.

The Polish youngster is surely worth a show of faith by Emery having impressed for Charlton Athletic in 2018/19 and the Poland U21s at the recent World Cup.
