Reported Celtic target Shon Weissman scores 33rd goal of the season and is tipped to succeed at Parkhead

Shon Weissman once again showed why Celtic are being continually linked with a move for his services with an excellent display against Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga last night.

The Israeli striker scored one and provided the assist for another in a 2-0 win for Wolfsberger AC in their 2-0 win over Sturm Graz.

It took his incredible tally for the season to 33 goals in 37 games and eight assists. With those stats, it is no shock that Celtic have been so regularly linked with a move for the player.

It was reported by The Telegraph at the start of the month that Celtic had their sights on the 24-year-old, should they lose current star striker Odsonne Edouard, who has been linked with several high profile moves.

A £4.5 million fee was mentioned and his most recent display will do nothing to discourage Celtic in any interest.

It comes in the same week that Israeli football royalty and former Liverpool star Ronnie Rosenthal told Inside Futbol of his belief that Weissman would be a success at Parkhead.

“I think moving to Celtic could be a great move for him because the Scottish league is not so strong and it is important for him to play regularly and be important for the club he is going to.

“I believe if he moves to a higher level he could find himself in competition with other players, and not playing regularly after scoring more than 30 goals in his first season would obviously be disappointing.

“I think Celtic could be interesting for him.”

Of course, it seems that Celtic are only going to be interested in Weissman if Edouard leaves, a scenario no Bhoys fan wants to see come true.

But should the club find themselves losing Edouard, or deciding to add another string to their attacking bow, then Weissman looks a serious option.
