Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne this summer. Turkish source Aksam has reported that the club are willing to pay £11 million for the Senegal striker.
His record last season suggests Aston Villa could be on to a winner. Diagne scored an incredible 31 goals in 36 games last season. Not all of those goals came with Galatasaray. In fact, he started the season at Kasimpasa, where he formed a potent attacking threat along with a new Aston Villa recruit.
Aston Villa paid the Turkish outfit a fee reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £8.5 million for Egyptian international Trezeguet.
The duo spent 18 months playing together, forming a fairly formidable attacking threat for opposing sides.
Indeed, as quoted by KingFut last April, Diagne is a massive fan of the Aston Villa newbie.
“Trezeguet is a very young and very special player.
“He is showing his potential during games and achieving good success doing so.”
Aston Villa have already strengthened in attack this summer, with the arrival of Wesley Moraes from Club Brugges.
However, there could still be space for another striking option and at £11 million Diagne could be something of a bargain.
If he and Trezeguet could recover their partnership from Kasimpasa, then Aston Villa could really be on to a winner.
